Installations only go to C if you let them. Is the other partition formatted? Is it really labeled "D"...usually the cd and or dvd are typically labeled "D" and if you have both "D" and "E". If the other partition is formatted and visible and you know the actual letter, then you can specify your install to go there. Just carefully read the dialog boxes during install.

When installing almost any app, the directory it will be installed to will be shown. Such as, C:\Programs\Anyapp. You can usually browse to select any directory or drive on your system.

I currently install most of my apps on the D:\ drive.

Make a folder on D, called "Program Files".
Open regedit, and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
Find the key: ProgramFilesDir
Change it from c:\Program Files, to D:\Program Files
Now any application you install that defaults to the Program Files folder, will install on D in stead of C.

You can also do it with Tweak UI. Easier than trying to remember where to go into the reg for it.
