XP or 2K, that is the question. Which is most suitable?
I am a home user, with broadband internet, and planning a 1.7GHz PC + 500Mb RAM + 60GB HDD.
I would like advice about the most appropriate OS - XP or 2K? My current PC runs WIN98se, which more or less does OK. I might build a small network with print servers and maybe Linux. I have the opportunity to load MS Office, and MS Studio Professional. Most of my work is software development, document preparation and web crawling. I don't play games - well, not the type I'd like to discuss here anyway

Get acopy of Microsoft XP Pro OEM it's 3 bucks cheaper thatn 2000 and give you a lot of the newer hardware compatability. Additionally Microsoft drops security and update support for their OSs after a number of years, so by buying an older OS you are cutting yourself short on patches and updates.
Agood place to buy it is http://www.buysell101.com/ProductDetail.asp?id=1690 |

I would go with XP. In all probability support will be available for a longer period of time as Morris pointed out.
Another good place for software is www.directdeals.com Chas
