Ok, heres what happened, a few days ago, I ran a virus scan for my computer and it said 'Infected File' iexplore.exe contains a back door trojan horse and is unable to be quarinteened. Needs to be deleted. It was deleted as far as my knowledge, and now at start up there is a pop up alert that says "iexplore.exe is missing' I want to redownload it. is there a way i can fix this?

The problem is that the system has been changed to automatically load the trojan (cleverly named as iexpIore.exe to make it look just like Internet Explorer, or iexpLore.exe). You deleted the executable, so you get an error saying that it can't be found when Windows tries to load it. You have to change the registry and system.ini and win.ini files.

Im not really 100% sure on what I should be doing...When I back up my registry I just back it up to another file?? Or do I put it somewhere specific

Yes, just back it up to another file.

I would do a search in the registry for iexpIore.exe (note that the letter in the middle is an I, and not an L; be careful with this). See what keys have that value, and if they match the keys listed at that website for removing this trojan, get rid of them.

Reboot, I'm curious: what do you think the problem is?
