You are probably going to have to contact Dell Technical support. You may have wiped out the part of the drive that has the pre-load on it that enables you to use the 2k Disk.

Did the computer come with a restore CD? If so see if that works.

Hello Dicerzzz,

How did you wipe the Pc's hard disk? Did you accidentally delete the files needed by the restore disk? Perhaps you should contact Dell or attempt to use the restore cd if one came with your PC....
Hope That Helps

I would run the drivemaker test utility to see if the drive is still good. Compaq sometimes puts System INfo on a hidden partition you don't want to lose.

Dell's frequently have a hidden partition but all I have ever found on one is the stuff you see the very first time you turn it on. It's perfectly fine to get rid of it.

I would check the drive before doing anything else.

I generally find problems like this to
be memory related. Try swaping the
meory out, or remove 1 stick and see
if it helps.

Sorry for the formatting. I'm at a bar
on my ppc, sharing their bandwidth.

You might try pulling any PCI cards it has out while installing. Might even put a different Video Card in for the install. What Video card is in it?

Have you booted to a floppy and run fdisk to delete\create a primary partition before doing the install?

Turn off anti-virus checking in BIOS.
Clean the CD.
