I,personally, use Fat32. NTFS sems to be the most popular around PCMech.

I use NTFS because it provides a greater level of security and enables some areas of functionality within XP that a FAT file system would not.

The only possible reason to use FAT32 would be if you were dual booting, Windows 98 or Linux. No other reason at all plus scan disk doesn't come up if your computer is turned off wrong.

NTFS is the best to use. Check out the FAQ for Win2K as well, this subject has come up before: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...319#FILESYSTEM

You can reinstall it as many times as you want, the only caveat is that if you have programs and stuff you put in after your previous setting, they most probably wont work (depends on how you reinstall it)

If you want to do a complete erase and clean and want to resize your partitions during installation, delete all partitions during the partition creation/setting screen and start from scratch.

If you messed up your partionions you will have to format the drive and start over. Just boot to the xp cd, delete all your partitions, reinstate your partitions (with the new correct size, I made my c: drive 5 gigs for XP and it seems perfect) and then continue with the install. Good Luck.

Not totally true. If you messed up your C: partition, you will have to reinstall. If you messed up your others you can delete them in XP and recreate.
