cd boot disc

I have some pocket cd-r's (210mb)...
If I burn everything that's on a startup disc to one of these, and make the proper sequence change in bios, I should be able to use this in place of a floppy right?
Are there any other changes should I make to be able to eliminate the floppy drive altogether?

Make sure you know how to make a bootable CD in your burning program before you make too many coasters.

thanks Jim...EasyCD Creator has a one step process to do just that (make a bootable cd, not coasters I hope!)...while this isn't the greatest burning program, I have another system that has WinonCD installed, in my humble opinion a much more versatile program.
Is there anything other than bios settings to consider when removing a floppy drive?

"anything other . . . to consider when removing a floppy drive?"

. . . Yep.

As soon as you remove it, you neighbor is going to come over with a floppy in hand with a document on it that he wants to print on your printer because his is broken. . . . Then, Auntie Mazy needs you to copy some of her recipe files and help send them to her friends (yes, they're on floppies too). . .

Sometimes having a legacy device around is nice for family harmony.

thanks Gary you make a good point
I guess it is better just to leave the dern thing...
I still have an old 486 kicking around in the closet back here in my studio, with a 5 1/2" drive in it...now and then I find old software at the recycling center...bring it home and check it out....
like taking a drive down the old back roads we used to go drinking on (and other activities...)
guess I'll leave the floppy for old times sake....

Send a message via AIM to i3OSS
when you boot it up make sure your CD is the first to boot in the bios.
