Got a message on my computer interupted EQ and that is just not allowed. Anyway it said "they" detected a bank account and credit card information on my computer. An out and out lie. This is my eq box none of that stuff is here. The link to remove http://www.yoursecurity.saidme.com/remove.html told me to disable messenger. When I did that I noticed somethings in a box that told me these things depended on messenger so have I really messed myself up to keep ads out? I know I should have a firewall but not sure how it would work with eq. Is the firewall with XP good enough? Oh and BTW EQ is everquest any help appreciated I know just enough about these things to be dangerous to you all.

borbos,
Welcome to PC Mechanic! Messenger was one of the first things I disabled in W2K. I believe it is the same messenger in XP. Carl |

You can disable Messnger in XP, the only downside is you won't be able to use it with out manually starting it. You probably don't use it anyway, very few people do on home computers.
