Server 2000 OR 2003, Any great change?

I just downloaded the beta of Windows Server 2003 RC2. Has anyone signed up for this and installed it? I haven’t installed it yet, but I’m going to quite soon. Is there much of a difference between 2000 and 2003? Is it worth playing with?

Supposed to be a lot different. I haven't seen it yet just what little is floating around the web. I would think it is worth learning.

I would think that it would be much different from server 2000. Maybe closer to XP interface. As per the server application, user and security features I would bet that there are some changes.

“Question”

I downloaded the Server 2003 ISO from Microsoft but I don’t have a burner. Is it possible to extract the ISO, put the files on one of my other hard drives, run that drive on it’s own, boot to it and run the install from there?

Has anyone tried this? It’d be cool if you could. I guess I could just go ahead and try it and see what happens.

I have never tried it but it's certainly possible that it wouls work.

I may be wrong but I thought it was more like SQL than 2000. In fact I thought it was replacing SQL.

I gave that idea of mine a try, but no go… O well! I’ll bum a burner from work on Monday and do the install during the week sometime.

Send a message via ICQ to DragonBreath Send a message via AIM to DragonBreath
I think you could extract the iso with a program like winiso, and be able to install it from that.

1 difference is windows media services,
for streming video etc... The newest
version is ONLY available in 2k3 server
and not available as an upgrade for
2k server . Way to go M$.

There is a little info about it here.

Most of the changes should be listed at theW2K3 server site

Some of the changes are listed at ZDNet

I have not spent much time paying with it yet.

I don't see why you could not use an app like isobuster to extract the files and then install it.
