Can you repair WinXP???

I've got a PC with a few minor XP problems.

The "system restore" feature does not work. When I select it from the start menu, I get the message telling me the program caused an error and asking me if I want to send the usual report to MS. If you go to the "system restore" tab in the System Properties box, you get a DLL error and the box closes. Besides that, the Restart option in the shutdown box also does not seem to work. When you select it, the PC hangs while shutting down.

Those are the only two issues that I've found so far, but who knows what else might be wrong. The system does run OK though, and there are no critical problems.

Is there an XP "repair" utility, maybe on the install CD, that can fix these kinds of issues without having to reload the whole system? Thanks in advance.

Boot from XPcd,let it load it's stuff, you will then be asked if you wish to repair or install, the first repair is for the console, which involves specific commands, this may serve you no good, click on install,XP should ask you if you wish to install or repair an existing OS,click on repair,XP will repair itself and will ask for the key code, this repair leaves most of your programs intact, but it's adviseable to have any drivers you may need on hand.
If you reinstall it,XP will strip out all things pertaining to it,all settings, adress book, favorites, etc.
So the repair option is the way to go!
