Just had to RAVE...

My first experience with XP had me about to never try again, but I am really amped about the system performance with XP Home edition this time around. I am even using the speech recognition software with relative ease. I LIKE this OS!

What all do you use the speech recognition for? How does it work, do you have to install it seperately or just turn it on?

That's the funny thing as I don't know exactly how it showed up in my system tray. The only two things I did was to install Frontpage 2002, which I don't think did it. and My brother in law and I went to the Microsoft company store (he works for Microsoft and can buy software at drastically reduced prices) and I ordered Office XP. No download nada, so this is ridiculous to think somehow it was downloaded.

Anyway I use the dictation feature to hands free dictate e-mails, office documents and the like. I still have to spend a little more time training it but I am getting about 80% accuracy with only ten minutes of speach recognition training.

Speech Recognition might be a standard part of WinXP (under Accessibility): Speech Recognition in WinXP.

Speech Recognition in Office XP.
