XP Unable to Browse Directory on Network
I'm having trouble with my XP Machines at work.
At the end of January, I upgraded my domain from NT4 to W2k Server and active Directory. All the computers on the domain can see "Directory" when they open "My Network places' or 'Network Neighborhood', except for the XP Pro machines. The XP machines can't see the Directory at all. They have the option to Search the directory, but it's not a folder that can be browsed. It's driving me nuts! I'm thinking there must be a policy or something on the XP OS that is preventing me from seeing the directory, but I can't find anything about it. Does anyone know about this? Can you give me some idea how to fix it? Tom |

Can you bring the computers up if you search for them?

The more I'm looking into this, the more it's looking like Microsoft purposly took this "Feature" out of XP. I found a way to put it back in, but it involves copying a DLL from a Win2k box and registering it with XP.
I was thinking it was a domain policy setting gone bad, but instead it looks like a Microsoft policy gone bad. |
