Connect to the internet icon?

OK I have a public computer that I allow students to access. When I first set this computer up it has the "Connect to the internet" Icon that launches the little wizard. How do I keep the computer from showing this for other users. I'm assuming I'll have to go through with the configuration myself, but then when someone else logs. Someone who doesn't previously have a profile on this computer it has that darn icon there again. I really don't want clueless students reconfiguring the internet connectivity so what can I do?

Thanks,

Seth

I think there might be a check box that says something like "do not show again".

The desktop icon is a shortcut that can be simply deleted as bailey suggested.

edit- Sorry, I didn't read your post carefully enough. Simply deleting the shortcut will not work for you.

Create an account with admin rights (called setup for example) and logon as this account.

Set up everything as you would like it. i.e Internet connection, default save locations, background etc.

Log back on as yourself and copy the NTUSER.DAT file from c:\documents and settings\setup over the top of the NTUSER.DAT file in c:\Documents and Settings\Default User.

Be aware that this also copies anything in the Run list, Recently Used Documents list etc so you may want to clear those before logging off setup.

Do students save work on this computer? If so then make a copy of the Documents and Settings folder (Excluding your own) and then proceed as below.

Press the Windows and Pause/Break keys together. This brings up the System Properties dialog box. On the User Profiles tab delete all the student profiles. When they next logon their profile will be recreated according to the settings in the NTUSER.DAT in the Default User profile.

This is harder to explain than it is to do.

I think there is also a setting in Group Policy Editor to force all Internet connections to be the same as the Administrators but I haven't tried it.
