Unhappy

this can't be that hard. [i hope]

laptop boots to hubbys profile. she has to log off and switch user to accept her profile.
every time the pc goes to sleep [frequently] she has to log out and change back to her profile.
is there a simple way to change the primary user from her hubby to her for ease of operation??

No it`s not that difficult. I`m assuming the local users can log on without passwords or the last user would be already entered in the logon box.

Click start\settings\control panel\users and passwords. Check the box that says "users must enter username and password to use this computer". Click apply. Now, clear the same box, click apply, and you will be prompted to enter a default user. Enter, "Bosses wife`s name"\apply and she`s now the default user.

Question

i can't find the password reset box.
this is xp home version.
when i go into users, i get a choice to create a new user and two other choices on the main page. there is a left side box with a few choices also but searching around i didn't find the check box refered to in anywhere.
the user i want to setup to be the default user on bootup is the administrator and her hubby is the "limited" [i think thats what it said]
i have currenty set the hibernate time to 5 hours to minimize the switching back but it would be nice to get the order changed so she is the one it boots to. thankx, ray

Try Start | Run | Regedit

Goto

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.

Alter the DefaultUserName to the bosses wifes Username.

I haven't tried this but I am fairly confident this is what you are looking for. Make a note of the value before you change it just to be on the safe side.
