Smile Dll Issue

Appreciate some assistance.

Trying to help someone running W98SE, and that every time the IncrediMail program is closed, a prompt appears with: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor." However, the program has no tech support except for some FAQs, which do not address this type of issue.

The Detail on the error message is the following:

INCREDIMAIL caused an invalid page fault in
module INCREDINOTIFY.DLL at 01bf:028bb34d.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program from CP>Add/Remove Programs several times, and it is like doing nothing. The error continues.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks for the help.

Send a message via Yahoo to catfishjoe_1
boot to safe mode and see if you can uninstall and reinstall from there, you might be missing some of incredimails files when uninstalling in regular windows. Also check to see if you have the latest version.

. . . and just in case any other progs left some surprises laying around in the Registry, you can try a run of RegClean http://download.com.com/3000-2094-881470.html?tag=list

Has IncrediMail had the problem with the error from the start, or did it work properly until just recently? I like cat's idea of checking for a recent version.

Smile

Update!!

Got it fixed. Everything seems to work right.

Unistalled IM from Control Panel (one more time).

Did a Registry find through regedit and deleted every instance of IM found there.

Did a Start>Find, and got rid of every IM instance in Windows.

Ran a program called RegClean.

Downloaded latest IM from its website.
Downloaded latest MacroMedia Flash.

Everything seems to work, no more error messages are showing up when using IM.
