SQL Server Service

What is SQL Server Service?
All of a sudden I have a SQL Server Service Manager icon in my systray. What is it and what does it do? I did not notice it until I loaded Microsoft's Picture It.

Which version of Picture It did you install? Some of them I believe use MDAC, which is kind of a light version of SQL Server. I suppose that is running to parse the XML used in Picture It, although not certain.

For a quick test, right click on sql and turn it off. Then launch Microsoft Digital Image Pro 7.0. SQL will probably re-enable itsself.

It really didn't do anything when I turned it off. But, other people that have loaded this program say it is in their systray also.
