This Screensaver trick...

There is this trick that I found out about, it was posted in the "Tips and Tricks" section of this site. This is it:

Take Over the Screen Saver

To activate and deactivate the screen saver whenever you want, goto the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ScreenSavers

Now add a new string value and name it Mouse Corners. Edit this new value to -Y-N. Press F5 to refresh the registry. Voila! Now you can activate your screensaver by simply placing the mouse cursor at the top right corner of the screen and if you take the mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen, the screensaver will deactivate.

I have been tryng to get this to work for like a week now...I was wondering if I am just misunderstanding something, or doing it wrong, could some of you guys know more about this than me give it a shot. It has no effect on mine, or maybe if you have a previous version windows you could try it on that, and see if this trick was just designed for previous versions, and not winxp.

thanks guys

I have seen the trick posted before but I never tried it. But it looks more like a 9X key to me as XP locates the screensaver key in a different place.

I googled it and found out the trick will not work if you have IE 4.0 or above which pretty much means it's a Win95 trick.

I did find tons of different shareware apps for about $10 that do the same thing with XP.

About one third of the way down on the following page is a link to download "Quick Click";

The list goes on and on.....HTH
