Question Win2k SP3 & ZA

My story
I just recently moved/upgraded to a different machine.
Fresh reformat and install.
My win 2k cd has SP2 so I installed SP3 right after the install. No problems.

I had problems with SP3 before when I installed it on my system that had been running for about a year. Slowed it down dramatically. So this time I installed it before any apps were installed. Smooth.....

I reloaded most of my apps and I decide to do a few reg hacks. Usually after reg hacks you should reboot to see if you screwed yourself. Well I didn't..I should know what I'm doing ...right?

The next morning when I start the computer I can't open anything. It freezes up. CRAP.... Tried the recovery console, no dice. From the command line I got back into the registry and undid the hacks from the night before. Still screwed up.

So I reformatted again. I already had recent backups.
Everything is loaded again. SP3 is back on and running good. I start reloading apps.
I go and get the latest version of ZoneAlarm(free version). Install it and I can't open anything again...Crap!!
I am able to get to the ZoneAlarm un-install. Everything is back to normal.
Now I remember that the last thing I did the night before I shut my PC off was update ZoneAlarm.
I thought the reg hacks screwed me. It was Zone Alarm. All I needed to do was un-install it(I didn't know ZA caused the problems). I could get to the start menu and un-install.
All I can figure is that the new version of ZA has an issue with Win2k with SP3 applied.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or is anyone running Win2k(SP3) and the newest Version of ZA? I think it's 3.7.

I'm now running Sygate 5.0(free version) . No problems. I like it.
