turning of windows file protection

hi, i am running win 2K, sometime when i install something new windows file protection will prompt me for the wni2K-disk in order to restore some files , if i give the pc the disk, the file protection message goes away, but i can almost certainly reinstall the program, if i press cancel the message reapers every time i reboot it propts me for the disk.

is there anny wa to turn windows file protection off, or better yet let it accept the current files and settings???

Take a look here which won't disable file protection but gives you a way to make it quit asking for the CD.

Also, take a look here and here for far more information than you probably ever wanted about W2K's file protection, including some of its registry settings.
