way to schedule shutdown?
Is there a way to schedule a shutdown in windows XP or win2000? Maybe in the control panel or power management folder?

If your running XP it has a built in shutdown utility. Simply click start, run, and type "shutdown -i" without the "" this will bring up a little program that will allow you to set a timed shutdown.

Thanks, that's a nice little feature. But another question is can I specify a particular time of day, or do I need to calculate the seconds before shutdown for that program?

With that program you have to specify in seconds but im sure you could find a program online that would give you what you need.

as an idea if push comes to shove you could use a macro editor or a VB program to run through a series of keys, and then schedule that program/macro with the Sheduler that you use for defragging etc.
