Ok, when I try to start the computer (Dell Latitude 7000) with Win XP Pro. It goes on as usual but come to the improper shutdown options (you know the "dialog where it asks you if you want to go to the last working setup, or the normal windows boot, or safe mode). I have chosen all of them, and the same basic thing happens. Anyway, it asks to check the disk (it doesn't matter at this point if I choose yes or no) and after I say yes or no, it flashes a blue screen that says something about a "registry file failure" and finally restarts to the same process. I have no startup disk or copy of windows to put on it. Please help!!

Dell should have provided you with a restore disk that would restore the system to the way it was when you bought it. You may have to call Dell(good luck) and have them send you one.
Just one more reason to build your own. Your only other (and most expensive) is to purchase the Win XP Pro disk and boot to it and use the repair function. Trudy |

Dell's recovery CD does give the option of reinstalling Windows without reformatting. Just boot from the CD, read each screen as it comes up and be sure to choose the option to reinstall without formatting.
The recovery CDs I've gotten with all my Dells say "Operating System" on them somewhere. |
