Gray cover on screen?

Hey,
Someone I just met, (I haven't seen this one yet) has this gray screen cover that covers his entire screen when he starts up, he can see everything, its just like a filter? Anyways, if he right clicks it, a little box comes up saying close. He was wondering what it might be? And how destroy it? He is running a Win 98SE system, that was pre-owned. I am guessing that someone deleted a program, but not the full thing, and thats whats left of it?

Hi Sauron,

Has he scanned for viruses yet?

I've heard of something called Window Blinds, it's like a skin program for Windows and lets you change the way Windows looks...could it be that?

Has he looked in the Start Up folder for anything weird looking?

Has he checked msconfig for anything weird?

Haven't seen you posting here for awhile...welcome back.

Thank you, I surf these forums quite a bit tho. He hasn't done anything yet, I told him a few things he should try. I will get back to you on it.
