Windows 98 does not start

Hi,
I tried playing a DVD, but when i tried to run it, the computer hung up on me. I turned it off from the switch and turned it back on. As i turned it on, The windows 98 logo (one with clouds in the background) comes on but then it just freezes, and not even the blue thing on the bottom of the screen moves. I keep doing this and it still doesn't turn on. I tried to start it in Safe mode, but still it freezes at Windows 98 logo.
What is the problem and how can i solve it? has anyone had this problem?
thanks!

Hello XXzubxx,

Could be a RAM problem. How much RAM are you running? How many sticks? If you have two sticks, try running with only 1 stick, if that fails, replace the stick with another one and see if you are able to boot up. If not, you will need to try a working RAM stick.

Start with that, and then post back with the results!

You might also want to disconnect the DVD and any other optical drive in your system and then try booting up.

Also, go to the hard drive manufacturer's website and download the diagnostic utilities and test the hard drive.

Im running 256Mb Ram (2 sticks) I took one one and turned it on, and it still crashed on the windows 98 screen, then i took it out and put the other one in, ran it, and it too crashed at the win 98 screen.
Could it be a problem with my Hard Drive?
