Reformatted, Can't Install Windows, Please HELP
I reformatted the HD, now I can't reinstall Windows 98. If I start up the computer It goes straight to DOS promt. if I start it with the Boot Disk, I get the choices to "Start With CD Support", "Without CD Support", and "Help File". I choose With CD Support and it brings me to the DOS promt. I don't know what to do. I keep trying to use the Windows 98 CD but it says CDR101: Not Ready Reading Drive E. I tried both my CD-RW and CD-Rom drives. By the way my CD-RW is D, and my CD-Rom is E.
Can someone help me, thanks. |

Bailey, If you are referring to the same post I think you are, this is not really a double post. He has gone beyond where he was in that thread. He has now reformatted the harddrive and can't install Windows 98 fresh.
Jaguar, what you need to remember is that right now your CD-RW is E and your CD-Rom is F. You need to put your CD in the CD-RW drive and install from there. You might have a problem with the CD-RW drive if the boot disk has installed the wrong drivers for your CD-RW so you might need to disconnect it for a time while you install leaving the CD-Rom connected. Then you should say you want to start with CD-Rom support. That should solve your problem. CH Last edited by Computer Hobbyist; 03-05-2003 at 09:21 PM. |
