How can I make the num lock default on in W2K?

I think it has to do with the way it's set in your BIOS.

In XP it also tends to not activate at startup even when it's enabled in the BIOS.

I think it is under Periphral options where it says ENABLE NUMLOCK. Check your motherboard manual if you do not know where in the BIOS that is.

Er, it's enabled in BIOS, but sometimes XP *disables* it.

I would think that when shutting down XP or 2K or logging onto another user account, that all actively set user settings would be preserved....hmmmm.

Thanks for the replies. The bios is set for nums lock on. And it enables it in w98. Just not 2k. Same machine, dual boot.
It is not a big problem, except that I have CRS at times and start tapping away until I realize the key is off. I thought there might be a setting within windows or a reg key to adjust. BTW, CRS= Cant Remember Sh.. |

I have W2K and all I had to do was push the NUM key once when it first started up and that was it.

LOL, Jomama, I thought CRS was something like character recognition software until I read your definition!

I chose the reg hack, rather than the vbs script and it works like a charm.
Thanks again. |

Got it. Here is the link for every one else. http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article01-001
Funny, when I realized I needed the hack I did a search here and my 2003 post was the only thread that came up. Well, maybe not so funny. |
