windows start up sound

Is there a way to stop the windows sound as I log on? It is startling especially if i forgot to turn my speakers off.
Thanks much
Christine

Start - Settings- Control Panel-Sounds. Scroll to start windows and enter none.

Yes Christine:
I don't know which flavor of windows you are running but I believe in all of them what you seek can be accessed thru ControlPanel>Sounds, and the sounds tab is where you see what sound is set to play for whatever the event is, like startup and shutdown.. Just go down to windows startup and set it for none...

Thanks a bunch. I only wish I had asked this question 2 years earlier. Thank you again.

Thank you very much. I will not miss that irritating noise one bit. Didn't really think it was possible to turn the darn thing off.
Thanks much.
