IE 6 Hanging with frozen screen and Computer
Hi all
IE 6 has started a very annoying trait. After surfing around the net for a while the screen will freeze while scrolling. No mouse control nor will the up or down keys will work on the KB. When the screen hangs, I have no way, (that I know of) of moving back or am I able to shut down the window w/ Ctrl-Alt-Del keys. With my limited knowledge, the only way around this hang is to hit the reset button on the front of the computer. I installed a new video card, TNT2, a few weeks back. One of the first things I used after installing the video card was Irfanview. Irfanview mimics the hanging while it tries to switch to the 2nd slide. Not sometimes, everytime on the second slide. Will only show the first or second inch of the slide and then hang as it is opening the slide. Running Win 98se ZoneAlarm NAV 2003

Hi LWHiway,
Well, I don't think it's IE 6, Win 98.2, ZA, or NAV 2003 since I run all that on this box and don't have a problem. By chance, did all this start to occur after you installed the vid card? TwoRails |

Absolutely started after the install of the TNT2 video card. After the cards install and the computer doing its thang, My Irfanview and the scrolling problems were immediate. TIA |

Hi LWHiway,
Sounds like I try going into Safe Mode, set the display adaptor to Std VGA, Unintall all the drivers and software for the new vid card (and old one, too, if present), reboot to Safe Mode and check again for any "remnants." Then I'd try re-installing the drivers / software per manufacturer's instructions for the new card. HtH TwoRails |

I'll do a little reading up on finding the drivers and software and deleting.
Once I try the suggestion I'll reply. thanks jef |

Hi LWHiway,
If there is an Uninstall option, use that first. Either way, also look in Add/Remove programs to see if there is anything related (utilities or the like). Also remove any reference to the vid card in Device Manager, and delete that. Also, check out their Web site for any specific directions . Good Luck ![]() TwoRails |
