Replace missing file
Hi,
I one of my files C:\windows\sp.reg was infected with the virus JS/IEStart.gen.d a trojan virus. My anti virus programs would not clean the virus and advised to delete the file. I have now deleted the file. It appears that the file is to do with IExplorer but so far I haven't noticed the difference apart from a dialogue box that appears when I start windows saying it cannot find the file. Any help appreciated Regards to all Maldin

Hi Mal Aligned,
Welcome to PC Mech. What operating system are you using? I'm using Win98SE and can't find a "sp.reg" in my Windows directory. You may have to go through the Registry and remove any reference to that file or to the trojan that your computer had. Have you tried using a trojan cleaner? Cricket

SP.reg WAS the virus.
Run MSCONFIG > Startup tasks and UNselect the entry. |

Hi,
thanks for the help guys, I have removed C:\windows\sp.reg from the start up and the dialogue box has disappeared. Everything seems to be working fine. Thanks again Mal Aligned |
