Windows 2000 Shutdown/Reboot Screen

I am just cerious about this..Just a question..

I am wondering what could be the symptoms of when you shut down your computer, and you get to the Windows 2000 Shut down screen, and it says shutting down your system, and nothing happens?

Same with the reboot screen....Would be great to know if I fall into this problem some day. Thanks!

Either may have something to do with power management in the bios, it is usually set to ACPI.

Windows Shutdown Troubleshooter.

Did you install anything new recently? Hardware? Software?

Have you scanned for viruses, spyware and trojans?

What about background programs?

I removed Trojan Remover from my system and I ran REGCLEAN. I wanted to reboot, so it went to the reboot Screen and just hung there. So I had to manually reboot the machine. Booted up fine, and tried to reboot again..rebooted fine..

I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Some files were left over after the removal. I believe a .DLL file. So I tried removing the Trojan Remover directory, and it said that the .DLL file was being used by windows.

I don't have many background programs running, except the default Windows 2000 services that load up. Havent disabled any services yet, because I dont know which ones to keep or what not.

just wondering what could of caused this reboot hang?
