NT 4.0 NIC driver install
Hello all
I downloaded a NIC driver, burned it to a CD and tried to install on a NT 4.0 machine and windows will not find the driver. If anyone has any ideas, I thank you in advance. |

For a NT 4 System, Go to My Computer>Control Panel>Network
Double click on the Network icon. Click the Add , and a long list of adapters will show up, since you've the Drivers, Click the 'HAVE Disk' tab to allow NT to read a disk or CD drive that contains drivers .... |

When you say it can`t find the driver. Does the message specify a file it can`t find? If so simply do a search on your CD and then point the installation to that file.
Example. I encountered this situation recently while installing a printer (yep...HP) A popup stated that ****.dll could not be found on the disk. I left the popup on the screen then clicked on start\search\files or folders and searched the CD drive for the file. When the file was found I right clicked on it and it showed me the directory it was in on the CD and I pointed the setup to that directory using the browse button. I had to do this for three different .dll files but the installation completed successfully. I also had to do this using a downloaded driver for a sound card. A little tedious but it gets the job done. |
