Help Me Please!! I screwed up my comp w/ XP and 2000
Yeah, I feel like a moron...
I realize once you have XP on, you can't setup any earlier versions of windows. Well, without knowing what I was doing, I installed Windows 2000 Pro on a partition I had made earlier. Now, Windows XP Pro doesn't load at all and won't load, it says there's some error. What did I do wrong? How can I fix it? And since I already have XP installed with all my stuff, is there a way I can install 2000? Or delete XP, but keep my stuff somehow and install 2000 and then reinstall XP? Thanks alot, Jake |

You might tell the guys out here just exatly what that error says. As much information that you can give might give someone a clue..Was you using any Partition Program that might have a"Undo" in it. ----I myself have Windows ME on a C: drive (which is for dear old Dad who does not want to change, but,it his computer). I have XP for myself on a made E: drive. I do have a D: and F: drive in case I want to put another OS on.----------------Donald |

Well, i think I fixed it by using the XP cd to repair my XP installation. I was worried everything I had would be deleted, but its not. Now, everything works except the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card drivers won't install at all. It says something about installing a common VGA driver for the display adapter first, and I don't know what that means. Can anyone help me out there?

Open display properties, Advanced button, Adapter tab. Set it to "Standard VGA, 640x480" and restart the computer.
You should then be able to install the ATI drivers. |

I did that, and now I have no display at all after restarting. My screen is completely black. It's on, and I've tried it in both ports of my video card, and neither one works. I would guess that means now I have no driver at all installed or something liek that. This is getting to be a very annoying mess....if someone can help, that would be wonderful...
BTW, I'm typing this message on my laptop ![]() Jake |

Try going to SAFE MODE and choose the Option to RESTORE to a best known configuration or enter to SAFE MODE and check your Device Manager and change the adapter listed there. Then re-start. HTH.
