Transfering data, programs

Greetings,

I'm wanting to transfer data (programs) from one hard drive to the other hard drive on the same computer. The OS is Win. XP and the HD's are WD 30 gigs. The reason is to balance HD space on the drives.

Thanks in advance,

Sydney

If you want to move around progs, you'll need to reinstall them onto the 2nd drive. It's rare that a prog works when you actually move it to another drive.

Instead of what you want to do, leave all the programs and the OS on the C Drive and then move any downloaded files, music files, media files and documents that you create to the second drive. Also if you are a gamer you might want to reinstall your games to the second hard drive.
And should you ever re-format, partiton the first hard drive into a 10 gig C partition and the the other 20 as a logical drive. 10 gigs is more than enough for the OS and other software.

Thanks Force & Morris,
About to show my ignorance, how do I move files from one HD to the other? Also, since HD's are getting reasonably priced these days I'm thinking about adding another larger HD. Any guidance you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Cool

Data files and folders can simply be draged and droped using explorer.
