XP Home: Missing System Folder error
I installed XP Home over Win 98- about 1 week later I received an error message that the system folder could not be found or had moved- thus Windows could not load. I then reformatted the HD and reinstalled XP- a few days later the same thing happened. Does not appear to be a virus becuase I am using NAV.
Any Ideas as to what is causing this? Tbird 800 IBM Deskstar Geforce2 256 mg ram |

Since you have a Deskstar, download the hard drive diagnostic utilities and check the drive out. See if there are any bad sectors on the disk surface.
Have you tried swapping the RAM out? Cricket

23 views and no fixes- I'm interpreting this to mean that it is not a common problem and may not be an XP problem but rather a hardware problem as Cricket suggested.
I've put Win '98 back on the HD- I'll see if it will work Last edited by Prew; 03-15-2003 at 07:53 AM. |
