Hello Chas,
CTRL+ALT+DEL, enter the task manager, and disable any applications that you have running. Or you can right click on each application in the task bar, and simply "Disable" "Exit" or "Shutdown" . You may also have to CTRL+ALT+DEL enter task manager, and end task some "Services" running, as when you run programs, you may only see them in the Services tab. Here is a great website for how to disable XP services that come loaded on by default when you install XP: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm Check this website on XP Shutdown/Reboot issues. If you follow their directions to solve your problem, you will most likely have the problem solved. http://www.aumha.org/a/shutdown.htm Start --> Run --> Type in Msconfig and run their "Selective Startup" and then click on "Startup" and uncheck unnecessary programs running(I.e AIM, ICQ, Sonique, Winamp) BTW- Where in MASS are you? I am in Western Mass. Last edited by Markoman01027; 03-15-2003 at 04:00 PM. |
