I installed windows 2k server in my computer and use for internet through a lease line. I installed Zyxel U-336 E modem through plug and play but evry time I restart (cold or warm boot) the machine I have to reinstall the modem as it indicates that the modem is not present. Its really frustrating and need help.

Disable com 2 in BIOS setup, and reinstall the modem, making sure it's on com 2, IRQ 3.
Check the jumpers on the modem to make sure they correspond to com 2, IRQ 3. |

When I put the modem in com2 its not even being detected and at the device manager the port status is 'this device is working properly'. When I put it in com1 its being detected, installed and when I reboot it sees the modem but at the 'attached to' field it says 'not present' more assistance please.

What do you mean "I put the modem in Com 2"?
You can't put it on a com, you must get the computer to assign com 2 to the modem, and you MUST have com 2 disabled in BIOS setup to do this. Then you have to run the setup file to install the correct drivers for it. This isn't Win98! |

External's in XP must be turned on before the computer, or you'll have to reload it every time.
I know there's a patch somewhere on the MSKB, but can't find it at the moment. |

It worked well but as reboot says the modem must be turned on before the computer.
