since installing firwire card pc will not shutdown

Hi.

Since installing a firewire card in a system, when you select shutdown the pc just restarts.!

I have disabled fast shutdown and am at a lose now what else to try.

I tested the card in other pci slots and turned on the system, when i tried to turn it off again at the post with the on.off switch, it didnt work, I had to hold it in for a few secs.

With the card NOT installed, the on/off switch acts in its normal way.!

System is...

Gigabyte ga-7dxe mobo
amd xp2400+
512mb ddr266 pc2100
maxtor 120gb hard drive
ati agp 128mb video card

See if anything here helps.

Have you checked at the firewire card manufacturer's website to see if there are any patches available. Check the FAQ's.

Hey how you doing just work on a box that was doing something similar go to startup \settings\control panel\ system\ device manager\system devices\pci bus highlight and hit properties when it opens go to IRQ Steering deselect "USE IRQ STEERING" restart system then try shutdown again if this work there a confict with the BIOS you may have to reconfigure or just check to see what IRQ is free and manually set it good luck I don't recommend leaving the IRQ steering off this is just to see if that where the problem is
