I bought a win xp. When I installed it the first time on my pc-there is no message that pop's up at the end of the desktop. I completed the online registration thing. Then, my pc crash, when I reinstalled xp-the pc has no internet connection-then there is this text above of the time and taskbar saying winxp personal trial-or something like that. When I change wallpaper-its still there, when I move the taskbar higher/lower the message still stays above the time. Is there a way to remove this annoying message. I didn't get it the first time.
The actual message is like this windows xp professional for testing purposes only. Build 2600 help |

Check if your XP is one of the PIRATED one.
To find out if you have this pirated key, do the following: Click on the 'Start' button. Click on 'Control Panel.' Click on 'System.' There, on the "General" tab, under Registered to: you will see your name and the Product ID key. If it matches XXXXX-640-0000356-23XXX or XXXXX-640-2001765-23XXX (where X represents any number), you indeed do have one of these keys. Hope it is not one of them. |

You don't have a legit copy.
What to do about it depends on where you got it. If you knew who you bought it from wasn't legit then you're stuck. I doubt they accept returns. If it was a store try returning it for a legitimate copy and if they won't take it you can e-mail the folks in Redmond about the problem. I understand they have a special anti-piracy site. Who knows, with any luck they may send you a legitimate copy. |

Thanks-I'll look into that. If so-I should get the message the first time around-but that didn't happen
