Question Partition Magic feature not available to me

I just bought partition magic 8 and want to use it to split my c: drive (like in the tutorial that came with it). When I open it though, the "split partition" feature is not active. I am running windows XP pro, on an 80gig unpartitioned drive(NTFS), and want to separate my data and programs from my os. Any ideas why this split feature is unavailable to me? Should I try a different approach, like "create a new partition" which is available?

Is the "split partition" feature unavailable for NTFS or something?

I'll ask PowerQuest when I get a chance, but answers come quicker from these forums.

Thanks

I've never used PM8, but in PM7 I use the "make a new partition" feature.

You don't "split", you resize C to make it smaller, and then create a new partition out of the unused space.
