Windows XP Find
Why does find files or folders suck so much in XP? I know exactly where a file is, and I search for the exact file name on the correct hdd, and it comes up with no results. What's up with that?
[edit] Ha, nevermind I figured it out right after I posted. Another Question though. This kinda bugs me. If I put the cursor over a system tray icon, the yellow box that is supposed to popup and give you information comes up behind the taskbar. Any reason why it would do that and any fix for it?

In regards to the second question, that happens to me sometimes as well. Does it happen every time for you? I have no idea why it does that, maybe a possible glitch in Win XP?

At the moment it's working fine. But earlier today it was doing it as well as many times before.

My XP Home won't find files either, what did you do to make your "search" work right?

I was on my WIN98 computer when I posted that my search wouldn't work either. I shut it down and logged onto my XP Home computer to try search again (I hadn't tried it in about a week). It found everything! It never did before and it does now. There is nothing that I know that I did that made it work this time. Maybe you can give me some insight into what you found to make yours work?

There is that little options thing where U tell it to search system and hidden files that I believe is not enabled by default. That helped me find files that i know existed, mainly in the Windows folder...

Yes it's what ktkendall said. Advanced options and check off system folder, hidden folders, and subfolders. Then it found what I was looking for.

Hey! that is a blatant stereotype. XP is actually very tweaker friendly and cool! (go to tweakxp.com) I am having good success making XP my b, er... pal.

If the taskbar is unlocked, the info bubbles pop behind. Lock the taskbar, and they show up in front.

Locked or unlocked mine show up in front. I have seen this from time to time; a restart cures it along with just continuing and it comes back the way it is supposed to by itself. Make sure in properties that you check to keep taskbar on top of other windows.

Yea, it fixes itself after time, but it happens whether it is locked or unlocked. It doesn't happen all the time. Just occasionally. I'm pretty sure it is because the taskbar is always on top, so sometimes it just goes over the little yellow text message things. Really not sure what to call them. The text messages that pop up when you put the mouse over an icon. Not thoese XP bubble things.
