Talking Three days to figure it out!

Hi people....
Well, this is my case.... Yes. You can call me stupid!

After copying something to a floppy disk the next time I rebooted my pc, a message appeared.

NTLDR Missing

I went to Microsoft and looked around for what the cause could be.

After following directions there, like inserting the w2k cd and select the repair option at boot up... and having no success
I finally got to the point that I had to insert a floppy disk in my drive.

Then I found there was one floppy which I forgot and was causing the problem, since it was not bootable and even so, I just forgot about it. And instead of working from bottom up I went back worse. Things that you learn on the way.

I am familiar with the message you get in a similar situation in windows 98, but never run into the same in a windows 2000 environment. I post this because besides you can have a laugh on me, there may be some people that have gone thru the same and I need a little bit of support

So, the moral people:

Next time you get into a problem, don't underestimate any little detail. The solution may be simpler than what you may think.

Now you can call me F@#$%@ or whatever you want!

Any comments?

Good point, Alex123!

I've often wondered how many "things" that are fixed 'round the world, just by plugging them in!!!!

You know it would be nice though if MS would give you a message other than the exact one that happens when the NTLDR really is missing.

Something strange happened to me. I made a NT boot disk. Copied boot.ini, ntldr, and ntdetect to a floppy to use on a friends W2k machine. Later when I needed a floppy for a W98 machine, I formatted the NT boot disk I made to FAT and used it to transfer files to the W98 machine. This worked and when I later went to reboot and forgot to remove the floppy. I got the NTLDR is missing on the W98 machine instead of the invalid system disk....press any key blah blah blah.

Talk about being thrown for a loop!
