BIOS/Installing New Hard Drive

I have a win98se currently 20gb, 320memory. I want to take out this HD & put in a 60gb. When I looked in my Bios my cdrom is set for LS-120 why would someone set it to this? Should I change this back to CDrom (cdr-rw)? I do not have this LS-120 disk in my computor, never did. Do I need to do anything to the Bios since I'm going from 20gb to 60 gb or when I install the operating system (new 98se)/HD that will take care of it.
I copied all the info in CMOS/BIOS. Have a Micro-Star MS-6378
Micro ATX Mainboard AMD Athlon/Duron Processor. NVidia GeForce2 card.
I no longer want this 20gb nor do I want the info on it so I do not want to copy it to this HD, I want a clean HD. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. This will be new for me so I checked out the other parts of this site. Great site by the way. Thanks.

Hi Lotta:
welcome to PCMECH: A new HD generally will just be auto detected by the BIOS, and worst case scenario you may have to go into the BIOS the first boot with the new HD and set if to AUTO, but if it's already set to auto then you'll be fine, it will just autodetect the new one and adjust itself accordingly...

Thanks ktkendall. Should I not worry about that LS-120 being there? My First Boot Device is My Floppy, Second Boot Device is
HDD-0, Third Boot Device is LS-120, Boot other Device enabled.
I don't have a fast floppy LS-120. Shouldn't this be my cdrom?
HD set as IDE Primary Master
IDE Primary Slave None
CD-RW set as Secondary Master
IDE Secondary Slave None
Drive A is 1.44, 3.5 in
Drive B None

So I shouldn't have to change anything? How do I find where its set to Auto or not? Should I remove my nVidia GeForce 2 card, then disable my other video before I run 98 install? Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for your help.

Thanks for the updated info cause I did wonder how a cdrom could possibly be functioning correctly if it was set as an LS-120. Your devices are the IDE settings, and they are correct, what you are asking about is just boot order and I would just set that 3rd boot device to none or cdrom, whatever you choose. For even quicker boot I just use device 1 as HD and all otheres to none and have my boot other device disabled. It gives quicker boot, but whenever I want to boot with other device I do have to go in a change it. it's all a matter of personal preference. And yes I would just disable that onboard video and go with the nvidia card for the fresh install.

If it doesn't autodetect it correctly at first then just go into the bios and then you be able to set it for AUTO
