A friend running WIN XP has start developing a problem during
his internet surfing. He gets an error box that says: "A runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to debug?" Line:5 Error:Unterminated string constant. Yes or No boxes to click Click no and the box comes right back.Click yes and it will go away but may come back on the next page you visit. Can CTRL/ALT DELETE and close it but may come back shortly. Any idea how to deal with this?Or terminate it altogether? Thanks G |

I think it means there is an error (or errors) in the webpage script(s).
For example, when I make a mistake when I am writing a mouseover script and try to run it, it gives me that error.

yea you are right Forceflow. In previous versions of windows this page won't even load at all. In XP though it lets you try to debug a page if it has faults. Don't worry about it, its not winXP acting up, its just a problem with the page (maybe an html code error??)

Actually, I usually run win98SE, and I get it.
Also, I don't think HTML comes up with those errors. From what I've seen, it's usually javascript. It's brobably some others too. |

What version of IE?
In IE 6 do this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > uncheck Disable command sequences debugging (or something like that, remember my Win is in spanish) > click OK. HTH
