I don't use Opera so I don't know its options, but if there is a security section in your browser you might check the level in there. I know that in IE its in the security along with the other things you set the security level on, like ActiveX controls, VM, download permission, etc. Basically, see if there's something in there that says the cookies are disabled. You might try looking in your hotmail menus to see if there's something involving the security in it too. Again, I don't know about that program, I use Outlook Express.

did you set an expiration for your cookies? maybe your computer is storing them even after it disables them (expires them).

I ran into the same problem last weekend on my fiancee's parents pc with hotmail. I checked the browser settings, they were all fine. Turned out it was the time and date set on the pc (was set to 2008). When I corrected the time and cleared the cookies, I was able to get into hotmail no problem.
