Problems installing XP

Hi there,

I am trying to install Xp onto a new HDD (Seagate 60gig).

I boot from the CD-ROM,go through the partition and then install but when my pc reboots there is a message "cannot find OS" and another message "misread on disk" or something like that.
I do not know if I did something wrong or if I am missing something.

Please help!!

Thanks

amg

Hello,
Try entering your bios and going to bois features. Then select boot sequence. I Suggest A,C (Or whatever your hard drive letter is) then D ( cd rom). Good luck and hope this helps.

Go to the Seagate website and download the hard drive diagnostic utilities and test your hard drive out. There might be a problem with it.

Make sure it's jumpered correctly for the type of IDE cable you're using.

Disable the Anti-virus thing in BIOS.
With that enabled, Windows setup cannot write the MBR to the hard drive, and will give you one sort of error or another.

I did the seagate check on the drive and it is working fine.
I have also double checked the cables and jumpersand they are fine.

I did a reinstall on another drive Maxtor 30gig and worked without any problems. Why will it not work on the seagate drive??
