What do I do if XP has a choose OS menu instead of normnal startup? Instead of booting up normally, it shows that menu when you have two OS on a system. The choices are both XP home. There is only one version of windows installed on the computer. What could have casued this and what do I do about it ?

Right-click on "My Computer", select Properties...Advanced...Startup and Recovery. That will give you a list of operating systems.
Personally, though, I just deal with the boot.ini file itself. It is a system file, usually on your C: drive in the root directory. Under the [Operating Systems] section, remove one of the duplicate lines. Make sure they are exactly the same, though. If they are different, you have to remove the right one. If you are unsure, just post the contents of the file here and we can help. |
