i got an email which ended in .eml. i know its an mpeg , but media player will not open it . any suggestions on a fix

Jason,

Here is a Technet document that explains what EML is. It's the file extensions used by a mail server for the copy of an email message in the mail store.

I wouldn't think you'd get an email delivered that way, so it's possible that the message got corrupted somehow. Is there an attachment to the email? If so, what is it? Can you save that to your PC? (Obviously scan it for a virus before opening it!!!)

the e-mail has an mpeg attachment with it. the file came as Fwd_.eml. it was an email my brother got and he forwarded it on to me. he was able to open it on his (yahoo) email a/c. i use win98 outlook........

when you open the email message, does it show an attachment?
if so, when you click on it, does it give you the option to save or open?
try saving it first, as an mpeg. if you can't save it as an mpeg, after it's saved try renaming it with .mpeg at the end of the name.
then open it from the directory that you saved it in...let us know if this works....

no i cant change the ending of it.
1 thing comes to mind. when i open winmedia and click on file , there are about 10 files listed. some of them end in .eml.. i have tried to delete them , but i cant seem to get rid of them , they rotate in line as i try to delete them .i.e if i try to delete the first one it goes to the bottom of the list?????
