Computer Crashing!!! Help

This a recurrent problem ive been having for awhile and im tired of it. Everytime I play a game on my computer like some massive multiplayer games the game will play for a while but eventually the screen will flicker and the screen freezes or changes to a bunch of vertical colored stripes. It happens on different games using different operating systems, i.e. Win 98, Win ME. Please someone help me.

Hi Glyph516, Welcome to PCMech

Sounds like your monitor might be going south. Could you give some system specs please, like weather its store bought or home made, and some hardware (i.e. Mobo, Ram, Vidcard, etc...)

Have you tried running the computer with the case open? Sounds like the video card is overheating. I had similar problems with one computer that had a old video card with no heatsink on the graphic chip. I epoxied on a small heatsink and installed a slot fan under the video card and the problem went away.
