missing files
I have my computer back up and running after formating the hard drive. However, when it starts it tells me dfs.vxd file is missing. If I hit enter the computer reboots... I extracted it out of the win 98 se, and placed it in c:\windows\system. Do I need to place it somewhere else?
Also, when it is rebooting I get a message that msnp32.dll is missing, I extracted this file as well and placed it in the same folder..... Any help? Thanks |

Hello Kmbrln2,
This sometimes is an issue with Windows 98SE if a bad installation occurs or if the disk is damaged. I have had this happen to me numerous of times and I had to reinstall the OS. If you placed both files inside C:\windows\system, and when you reboot and you dont get any message saying the file is missing or anything like that, then you are good to go. You need to place the file where Windows wants it. Usually if you get a missing file dialog, it will let you know where the file is suppose to be at. |
