I'm using WinXP Home, I have myself and 2 other users assigned accounts all with full access. I have noticed that when I install a program (a game for example) under my login they will not always have the icon for the game on the desktop nor will they always have access to the "save game" files that were created under my login. Is there a way to install programs so that everyone has complete access to the program and all "save game" files are available to all users all the time? I noticed this first when I installed my wifes new Palm software under my login, when she went to Hot Sync under her login the software wasn't there, even after I copied the Hot Sync .exe program over to her desktop all of the information (addresses and phone numbers) were not available under her login, only mine. Is there a way to login perhaps as a general administrator rather than a specific account to help remedy this...knowing Microsoft...probably makes too much sense. Thanks in advance!!
Kevin

You need to log in as Administrator, install the games and stuff.
Most settings will be retained in the "All Users" profile. Save games may not, depending on the software. There is a manual way to get all users game saves identical, but I'm not sure you want to dig into that. If you do, I can walk you through the process. |

Jim,
Other than logging on normally under my user profile is there anyway to login as an "administrator"? I had heard rumor of hitting ctrl+alt+del at the login in screen but when I do that I just get a new version of the login screen that asks you to login manually and when doing so it only accepts one of the 3 account names that were available from the traditional login screen. If there is a special username that needs to be used please let me know, I tried administrator and a few other with no success. Thank you, Kevin |

Hit cntrl-alt-del-del. Then type in Administrator as the user name. You'll have to use the password you designated at the time you installed it.
Alot of times the easiest way is to just make make shortcuts for the other users from Explorer. |
