Autodialing

I recently played around with the auto dialiing setting and I accidently caused my computer to start dailing the internet randomly. It was a dialog box that popped up all of a sudden (I think when my AV tried to update) asking me what connection I wanted to use and when to auto connect. I haven't seen the dialog yet and I don't know where to find it under the control panel. Could someone point me in the right direction?

that's what I thought but I have it set to "never dial a connection". Thats not it, it's something else.

it sounds like one of your programs is requesting the connection and Windows is doing what you ask by not autodialing. You'll need to turn off the autoupdate off on your AV if that's what it is.

The problem is that it IS autodialing, I went and ate supper and I came back 1/2 hour later to find it connecting to the internet. I want to turn that off.

Make sure the auto-update for your anti-virus is off as well as the automatic update for Win XP. Those are usually the cause for dialing. Any other program that has an automatic update is also suspect.

I think TUF has it here. Take a look in your AntiVirus options for the AutoUpdate settings.

Well I changed the anti virus settings to "notify me when updates are available" instead of "don't bother me" but it did it again this morning. Any other ideas?
