Install New Fonts

Hi,

I can't install new fonts within my CP > Fonts folder. I am using Win98SE. What's wrong?

Thanks,

All you need to do is copy and paste the font into the "c:\windows\fonts" folder (or thought the control panel, as you have been doing).

Are you getting any messages when you try to paste? Or are you installing your fonts another way?

Yes, I've tried copy pasting. Not working. I beleive there is a patch for this bug, but I'm not sure where exactly.

Thanks,

Hi pc(noob), hi forceflow -

Here's what I found over at the MSKB. Can't speak from experience on this one. My fonts have been terribly boring and complacent.

some odd default setting: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;203018

over 800 fonts: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;312459

"make sure the 'Copy to Fonts folder' option is checkmarked": http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;130233

Best of luck

I do not, however, have the "Install New Fonts" option under my file menu in my Fonts folder. I am not sure what is wrong.

Thanks,

Send a message via Yahoo to Eaglefeather
Go to one of the download sites and find yourself a font manager program. They are very small and will most likely solve your font problems.

I use Font Navigator, a free font manager and it is fantastic. First it will find any font that is on your PC and you have the option to load it.

As well you are able to turn off any font. Windows comes loaded with a whole mess of useless fonts, these may be turned off and just the ones you like turned on.

It has a user friendly interface with four view screens. One where every font on you PC is displayed, one to show all currently active fonts, one to see what the font looks like and one for font groupings.

I got it from, http://www.freewarehome.com about 3 years ago and have never had any problems with it. I don't remember the category but the way this site is set up things are easy to find.

Cheers
EF
